When you’ve been making smoothies for a while, it’s pretty easy to get stuck in a routine. That’s probably why, in the Mallon house, our smoothies tend towards raw goat’s milk plus whatever frozen fruit we have on hand. But, because every now and then it’s good to mix up routine, and, because, if you know my husband, you know how passionate he gets about tree foods being ideal foods that we need more of in our lives, here’s a morning smoothie with a beautiful citrus base. Drinking it makes me think of drinking a smoothie as a teenager at the mall—only it’s better since, in this case, we know exactly what’s inside.

2 1/2 cups of fresh squeezed orange juice
